HUBBING
Hubs are magazine articles with pictures that are published on the Internet by HubPages. I love writing Hubs and have greatly enjoyed my 15 months as a member of the HubPages Community. HubPages provides a brilliant platform that makes it easy to assemble and publish articles.
This is my 178th Hub, written on this day the 6th of July, 2010. I am on summer vacation from Hubbing to concentrate on writing my first book, but I wanted to publish this Hub in commemoration of a milestone I hit today: 200,000 Page Views. I wish to say thank you very much to all of my readers and followers.
My Hubs received 100,000 Page Views at the 10 1/2 month mark. In the 4 1/2 months since I have garnered 100,000 more, so the Page Views are accelerating.
My number of followers, on the other hand, has climbed at a very steady clip to the current total of just under 1600. I have gained a little over 100 new followers each month since I began writing Hubs. "Followers" are people who have expressed an interest in my work and receive e-mail notification when I publish a new Hub.
HUBPAGES
I have experienced a bit of censorship on HubPages. Hubs I published with photographs of aborted human fetuses (which looked just like babies only torn to pieces) were pulled off by the HubPages staff until I removed the photographs, which they deemed offensive.
I receive monthly checks from Google AdSense that are based on the number of Page Views my Hubs receive; and on the number of "click throughs" on the ads Google places on my Hubs.
Four of my Hubs were recently demonetized by the Hub Pages staff, because they are about sexuality. This is a new tactic for HubPages. These Hubs are Amateur Pornography; Sexual Revolution; The Homosexual Agenda; and The Homosexual Movement. This means that while they are still published on Hub Pages, no ads are placed on them by Google and therefore I get no income from them. "Amateur Pornography" is actually my third most viewed Hub of all time.
The Hub Pages staff also snubbed me a bit a couple of months back. Each week Hub Pages publishes a newsletter that features an interview of a Hubber by a Hubber. Each week the interview is conducted by the Hubber who was interviewed the week before, and this Hubber selects the Hubber to be featured.
I was honored to be selected and interviewed by the Hubber womanNshadows. She sent in the interview to the Hub Pages staff with a lovely but brief section introducing me and my work. The intro was cut without warning or explanation. And the Hub Pages staff did not have me select the next interviewee, nor did they allow me the privilege to conduct the interview. The staff selected the Hubber to be honored and conducted the interview themselves. I am not aware that any other Hubber has been snubbed this way.
Why would they do this? It was suggested to me that since I am conservative politically, and a Christian personally, that the Liberal San Francisco based Hub Pages staff simply doesn't like my worldview. For the record, I had selected Allan McGregor to interview.
HUBS
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a list of my 20 most popular Hubs of all time (besides the one I mentioned earlier). If you click on the title of any one of these it will take you directly to the Hub itself. These are in order starting with the most popular first.
Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire
HUB PAGES
In closing I will provide links to Hubs I have previously written that feature advice for other Hubbers, and that tell my story of being a Hubber (besides the one I listed above).

Very interestig article about your climb with Hubpages. I used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area back in the late 70's, Pacifica to be more precise. I attended Terra Nova High School there.
I enjoy your hubs James, and the list you placed above I will read, one after the other, as I know they are well written and entertaining.
Congrats on the 300,000 views by the way - which is how I ended up here, one of many of your excellent hubs I missed.
It really really steams me that you have been censored by the liberals in the front office, especially when they allow so much spam on HP. The worst hypocrisy is that they allow so much slutty material, hubs that don't even have an excuse for the slutty pictures they post, and never mind the immature comments that arise from those hubs (no pun intended).
In any case, great job, not so much for the views, but for your excellent prose and usually interesting hubs (unless it's about baseball - I hate sports) :-D
By the by, I'm sure you've heard of Suite101? Hear through the grapevine that it is an excellent money maker if you put in the time. Hope it's not sacrilegious to post that here! Anything goes on HP, except when it's one of your hubs...
Hey James -- I realize the congrats for the milestone are a bit outdated, but a great excuse to stop by and say hello. And compliment you on a way cool portrait by your friend. That's soooo neat!
Hope all's well and good luck with the book.
Cheers, MM
Congrats James, you are a very good writer and you deserve it. I look forward to the release of your book.
James,
Wow! Do I ever resonate with your candor! I am thrilled to see such determined optimism and outright dedication to your personal convictions. That's what writing is all about Displaying what is passionate to/for you in a way that connects with others. Upward and onward. Best to you...
I have been so behind the times, Congrats James on this awesome achievement and the best of luck on that new book. I know it will be a best seller if it's anything like your writings on hubpages. Cheers!
You da man James, congrats on a great achievement
Congratulations. Haven't hit a 1000 yet. Can't even imagine 200,000. Glad to see other conservatives and Christians writing. God bless you.
Wow! James, I was just looking through some of your hubs! You are really a good writer. Thanks for sharing!
James A Watkins:
Congratulations! You are a true Hubber. I thruoghly enjoy your writing. Keep up the good work, and let me know when you finish your book.
caretakerray
I have only one word- 'WOW'!
An excellent achievement, James.
And don't change. Compromise is the disease of personal integrity. Rather, remember Jesus' scathing indictment in Luke 6:26 -
'Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.'
And don't believe a word the Government tells you; the political class is in bed with the bankers and they're all lying to us. The economy is not in recovery but about to collapse, even more catastrophically than we've seen so far, because the difference between your Republican and Democratic Parties is a nuance between Type A Socialism and Type B Socialism and all they know how to do is print money and spend it, while Britain is in much the same boat.
Asia is not fooled by Western economic lies which is why they are buying gold and selling dollars. If that turns into a run, your economy will collapse as trillions of offloaded dollars dilute your domestic economy.
I predict Barack Obama will go down in history as the nearest presidential equivalent to the captain of the Titanic. And as for Britain, our last Prime Minister Gordon Brown was so delusional, Caligula turned in his grave.
You're not alone, James - We're just in a minority.
Congrats on the views and longevity of hubpages...It seems the freedom of writing is encapsulated a bit in these times but keep going...thanks
That's a great milestone, being able to reach 200,000 page views. Amazing, congratulations for that.:)
It's so great.
James, regardless of what Hubpages has done to you, you have the last laugh, you made it my friend. I have had several of my hubs listed "inappropriate" and can't have google ads on them (they are by far my best hubs). Anyway, I admire you for all that you have done. Be proud and many congrats to you!
My first impression when i saw your title was "how's that possible?" That's a catchy title you got here. Congratulations on the giant strides and keep up the good work!
Some hub! Congrats! It struck me while reading your hub that with all the controversy you mentioned they still published this hub. A little strange don't you think? Keep up the great work, it encourages newbies like me. Dee
James well done. I wish to some day write as well as you do. I find myself always coming back for more. Pluse you are hot! lol
Congratulation. Keep up the great work.
I like to read your hubs for two reasons. Firstly the content though I have to admit I favour the historical content. Secondly I read for the appreciation of your grammar and sentence construction. I applaud your use of words, everything reads so flowingly (is that a word?) I do hope your book takes off.
On the "hub sensor" issue. I have often thought that a company that embraces authors from all over the world should have staff on all continents to reflect the diverse opinions held.
Congratulations on your achievemnt :-)
Congrats James
This feat certainly speaks for your talent.
I can't wait to read your hubs one by one. Am in a dilemma which one to start with as all look one-of-a-kind.
Look forward to following your hubs.
I apologize if this is a bit unrelated to the topic of your Hub, but there is a square Adsense image ad below the painting of you at the top of this Hub and it's spooky how close the guy in the BrownBailout ad (which is a scam orchestrated by FedEx, BTW) looks like the portrait of you.
WOW,
amazing job.
congratulations.
Congrats man! I envy you in a good way! I hope I reach and even pass your achievements. Every day I work on hubs I learn a new thing too. So, those incidence of your been snubbed and others are just stepping stones to your experiences. I wish you more successes man!
Goodluck!
As you know (from your excellent Hubs) the secret is in the revisions and editing. I think Hemmingway once said that you should always take out what you love most! I think he was referring to beautifully written but superfluous text - but maybe he was just being contrary and Hemmingway!
Hi James
Congratulations on reaching this milestone.
I've missed reading and commenting on your hubs now that you are so busy writing your book. I hope it is going well.
Amber:)x
very cool, any more tips and guidelines that might be useful in increasing the amount of views on my hubs?
Well done, James. Your Hubs are consistently excellent and you deserve every success. May I (as a published author), wish you every success with your book. They can be marathons to write but are well worth taking to the finishing line...
great article in hub page views and very useful information thanks for sharing
Hubs are similar to magazine articles with pictures that are published on the Internet. I love writing Hubs and have greatly enjoyed my 15 months as a member of the HubPages Community. HubPages provides a brilliant platform that makes it easy to assemble and publish articles. I just love watching the news?So does My boyfriend .He is a doctor from a wealthy family .i met him via lovingrich .c o m,a nice place for highly successful people interactting with each other. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends(*
Wow congrats on your views! That is quite an accomplishment! I can't believe they pulled your interview. How silly. Not everyone wants to write about the "topic of the month"! Good luck on your book!
bravo on 200,000 views, I have to admit that coming closer to 100,000 seems that m views a coming in faster and faster, so I suspect that the views I get to get to 200,000 will ake half the time... bravo once again and a great hub!
James - I have had several ideas for hubs that I deep 6ed because I thought someone may find them objectionable. After I started making a bit of money on here, I decided to stick to writing hubs that would not 'rock the boat.' Maybe if I was here to merely express my views, I would just write up whatever I wanted.
Also, I've written hubs about things that I had to search and search for information on, subjects that, I guess people were not really interested in - just me. Of course, that means that nobody would be interested in reading it! haha. Good luck with the book! With all the views you get, HP would be a great marketing tool!
I did wonder where you were James. I think we all need a break now and then and summer is as good a time as any. I am surprised about your Hubpages experiences
Thank you James, that's very sweet of you to say. I would love your help in any way.
Congratulations, James. Your pithy articles deserve the recognition they get. Good luck on the book.
Hi, congratulations! wow I hope that I get there one of these days! and good luck for the book, keep on writing! lol cheers nell
Congratulations James!!! I'm just now getting around to reading this. You are such a talented man! You need to help me with my writing skills as I know there is room for improvement! :)
Congratulations James! Great news and I have enjoy the ones I have read very much! even the ones I disagree with I enjoyed!
I have three little brothers... two of which are my half brothers...Kevin and Kerry are the sons of Kathleen(Kitty) my Step Mother. Kitty is no longer with us.
My brother Douglas is my mother's son and, the one I am referring to. Douglas is the only one of all of us kids that has no photo of himself in my father's home and he just moved in with my father last month.
All I know is... for this trip.... I need to bend with the wind or snap like a dry reed.
It will be an exotic experience to meet you...I mean really you... as it has been a long time since we saw or knew one another.
Seems like we saw each other in the spring time and now it is fall and life happened. We sure have a lot to talk about.
Congrats brother. May the Lord bless your coming months and years on Hubpages. May he bless your life and your writing. Love ya Jim.
200,000 page views wow congratulations James. Your hubs are always interesting and worth reading so say all 200,000 readers
I also applaud your efforts with your writing and congratulations on that milestone of 200,000 page views. You are doing something right!!!
James, congrats on this milestone! Your struggle here on Hubpages reflects what is going on all over our country, not just here on Hubpages. Through my 60 years I have seen too many of our freedoms taken away. It makes me wonder if anyone really takes notice of what is happening in our daily lives. Kudos to you for standing up for the rights and freedoms we deserve and many our our soldiers have fought for and died for.
James, just keep doing what you do and all the best in your next 200,000 page views. Everyone has a right to express their opinion and you do so masterfully!
Wow, James! What a milestone. I am so impressed, but not surprised. I could see from the beginning, that you do not do anything in half measures. I am sure (if you missed me at all) you thought I disappeared from reading your hubs due to disagreeing with your subject matter. You may remember, I have gotten riled up a time or two ;) However, other things, mostly health issues, both mine and my grandddaughter's, have kept me from Hubpages, and your work, not your subject matter.
I greatly admire your stance to perservere and stand up for what you believe in. I also admire you for continuing on in spite of doubts over censorship at this site. Though many would call me liberal, I am very concerned over censorship these days. It seems that more and more, everyone must think alike and be afraid, very afraid to speak aloud of their true thoughts.
While I understand discrimination (I have two mixed grandsons who I adore and abhor the thought that anyone might think less of them because of their skin color), I am not sure that the current trend --where bloggers, journalists, polititians, celebritities, etc. can not speak against that which they do not believe in-- without suffering and vilification. For one, it gives us all a climate of censorship. Before, when one could (and did) speak up against other religion, race, sexuality, at least we knew who was who and who we were dealing with. We are not all supposed to think alike and be clones of each other. What we are supposed to do is to act in a civilized manner, regardless of our own views. You, James, will go down fighting for your right to believe the way you believe (and speak it) or die trying. Good luck in your book endeavor and keep on typing. The world needs you, James.
Many, Many congratulations on reaching this milestone. I am grateful that the snubs and censorship have not stopped you playing an active part in HubPages. It is amazing that the act itself is not considered offensive just the photographs of the act. Sometimes I just struggle to understand the logic and reasoning behind things like this.

sharewhatuknow— Thank you for visiting this old Hub of mine. I am grateful that you would even consider reading all those Hubs I listed. Wow! I sure appreciate that.
I have never been to San Francisco. I hear it is a magnificent city. You should write about it?
